FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

KEYSPAN Brings New Energy to Myrtle Ave. with Cinderella Commercial Revitalization Grant

(Brooklyn, NY, Feb. 1, 2002) - KEYSPAN has made a $15,000 grant to the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project LDC (MARP) to support a Cinderella Commercial Revitalization Program on Myrtle Avenue. This grant will allow MARP to further expand its popular façade improvement assistance using designs by Pratt Institute.

KEYSPAN's community development director Catherine Sevos said, "The KEYSPAN Cinderella Commercial Revitalization grant is designed to promote 'community reinvestment' partnerships. This is an important effort to beautify the gateway to downtown Brooklyn with MARP and Pratt Institute." MARP Executive Director Jennifer Gerend added, "We have been working diligently to help local merchants, and we're excited to have KEYSPAN join us as a partner."

Under the façade improvement program, local merchants receive incentive grants from MARP to make storefront improvements - with a little help from the SPAN design team at Pratt Institute. Merchants typically work with designers to develop an individualized logo and signage that help merchants to promote their businesses more creatively.
