Myrtle Ave. Getting Long-Overdue Fixup

From his small fish store on Myrtle Ave., Gurvan Duncan has seen his Fort Greene neighborhood become more upscale in recent years.
Crime rates have dropped, real estate values have risen, and a sense of optimism has washed over many of the neighborhood's brownstone-lined streets.
These positive developments, though, came slowly to Myrtle Ave., the neighborhood's gritty commercial strip. When they did, it nearly cost Duncan his livelihood. The building that houses his store was sold, his rent was raised and he had to find a new storefront. (Read more at The New York Daily News).
