'We are Patriarchs' exhibit to open at Hadas Gallery, 1/13

The 'We are Patriarchs' exhibit opens at Hadas Gallery on January 13th and runs through February 24th. Opening reception is Sunday, January 13th at 4:30pm and the artist lecture is Wednesday, February 6th at 7pm.

Hadas Gallery is proud to present the recent paintings of Elke Reva Sudin.

We Are Patriarchs is the latest series of oil paintings by artist Elke Reva Sudin. The exhibition continues Sudin’s interest in expressing Jewish culture in the 21st Century.

The use of Torah (old Testament) characters are reinterpreted as modern Jews from among the diversity of Jewish society. Here you will find converts, Orthodox Kosher business owners, Tatooed Jews, all standing as modern icons to their Jewish ancestors.

Elke Reva Sudin studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. In 2010, she gained notoriety for her Hipsters and Hassids painting series as well as her depictions of Jewish boxer Yuri Foreman.

Hadas Gallery, a project of the Rohr Jewish Center, is located at 541 Myrtle Avenue between Steuben and Emerson Streets.
