Myrtle Fire Update

A fire broke out at 352-360 Myrtle Avenue in the early morning hours on Easter Sunday, April 4th. The origin of the electrical fire is still under investigation. many residents and several small businesses, including Little Louie's Pizza, Hardee's Chinese Restaurant and Blue Nails were affected.

Thankfully, no injuries were sustained.

A vacate order has been placed on the building, and residents and business owners were assisted by the building's property owners to secure as many of their personal belongings as possible before having to leave the premises.

Building residential windows were boarded up on Monday to seal the building from the elements. Tenants of the units that were not impacted by the fire itself will be allowed to return once engineers deem the building safe.

Many City agencies, including the NYC Departments of Small Business Services' Emergency Response Unit, the Mayor's Office Community Assistance Unit, and Housing Preservation & Development, as well as the American Red Cross, are assisting effected residents and small business owners.

We will be working with the merchants to help facilitate any permits needed to get renovations underway as soon as possible, and hope to be able to help the property owner access preservation grants through MARP's NY Main Street Program to restore the building.
