Free pickling, cooking and canning demos at the Fort Greene Park!
All workshops will take place at the CSA’s distribution site at the northeast corner of Fort Greene Park at Myrtle and Washington Park. Here’s a sampling of what’s to come (October dates are tentative):
• On September 23rd, from 5:45pm-7:45pm, join Just Food’s Community CSA Chef, Gabe Glasscock, for a pickling demonstration using seasonal produce.
• On October 7th, from 5:00pm-7:00pm, the CSA will be hosting two seasoned Teen Chefs (pictured here) from Family Cook Productions, who will demonstrate healthy cooking that every family member will enjoy!
• And on October 21st, from 5:00pm-7:00pm, learn how to preserve the fall harvest so you can enjoy locally grown produce throughout the cold winter months. A canning demonstration will be provided by one of Just Food’s City Farms trainers.
These free and open events are co-sponsored by the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership’s new Food Access Initiative. If you would like more info on these events, or other Partnership projects to increase access to healthy and affordable food for all residents of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, please contact Sam Lipschultz, our new Food Access Project Coordinator by phone at 718.230.1689 or email at sam@myrtleavenue.org.
