Marathon Whitman Reading

WALT WHITMAN MARATHON Sunday, September 7, 2008 3 PM at the Seaport Museum’s Melville Gallery at 213 Water Street in Lower Manhattan, in the heart of the South Street Seaport Historic District.

Shout joyously from the deck of the barque Peking for the fifth annual marathon reading of ‘Song of Myself.’ Greg Trupiano, Artistic Director of The Whitman Project, leads a team of guests and volunteers. Volunteer readers must register in advance. To volunteer as a reader, email reservations@southstseaport.org or call 212.748.8764 and to sign up to read specific sections of the poems.

The reading will begin at 3:00 pm and will conclude between 5:30 and 6:00 pm.
