Destination: Wallabout

For the 3rd year in a row, the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership participated in the annual openhousenewyork weekend. Held this past Sunday, the tour highlighted the historic Wallabout District.

The Wallabout District, amongst other things, has the largest collection of pre-Civil War houses in New York City.

Nearly 65 history and architecture enthusiasts piled into either the 10am or 2pm Wallabout tour, led by Adam Schwartz and Howard Pitsch, respectively. Tour participants included both those local and not so local.

openhousenewyork is an annual two-day event where over 100 sites throughout New York City, from skyscrapers to monuments, private mausoleums and lighthouses, open their doors to the public. Billed America's largest architecture and design event, it is organized by openhousenewyork.
