New Traffic Light: Waverly Avenue & Myrtle
Brief background: Several years ago a warrant study was conducted at the intersection and it did not find sufficient data to support a traffic signal.
In January 2007, we asked NYC DOT to conduct a new warrant study. This issue was brought to our attention as a result of one our public planning workshops; participants emphasized the intersection was dangerous and difficult to cross.
The most recent warrant study found that the intersection supports enough pedestrian and vehicular traffic to warrant a signalized intersection. In particular, the intersection satisfied Warrant #4 - Pedestrian Volume. The pedestrian volumes crossing Myrtle Avenue were over 100 each hour, during four separate hours of the day. In addition, there were fewer than 60 gaps per hour in the traffic stream, which means that so many cars are consistently passing the intersection that, without a signal, there is little time for pedestrians to cross the street.
For these reasons, the new traffic signals are being installed and should be working very soon.

Also not police enforcement of speeding on Vanderbilt Ave between Myrlte and Park Ave. Also too much truck traffic on Vanderbilt.Ave. No police enforcement of double parking on Myrtle which is a two way street.
