Il Torchio Opens Tonight

Il Torchio, Myrtle Avenue's new Italian restaurant, opens tonight! Pamela, the restaurant owner, along with business partner, Andrew, are offering a complete menu of classic Italian fare, including wines, insalate, panini, pasta, riso and dolci.

The new restaurant, whose name means 'the wine press' in Italian, grew out of the idea of offering incredible wines with scrumptious "tapas" of Italian cuisine.

Stop in tonight to enjoy dinner at Il Torchio.

Lunch and dinner served.

Il Torchio is located at 458 Myrtle Avenue between Washington and Waverly Avenues.

Hours and menu will be posted soon on our shopping guide.

e's Gravatar I had a tilapia panini at Il Torchio yesterday. It is listed on their menu as 'Tropea.' What can I say--magnifico! The homemade cannoli was delish too.

BrooklynFoodie's Gravatar I went to culinary school, worked at several top restaurants and have high standards but I rarely consider a meal to be BAD. Tonight was an exception. Bacalao cakes were tasty, but the tartar sauce was overwhelming. Same goes for a soggy skinned porchetta with an overpowering saffron sauce that had an off-putting vinegar taste to it. Grilled scallops were drowned out by the porcini mushrooms in an accompanying risotto. The fritto misto was the WORST I've ever had: doughy, flavorless, limp batter. The special was boar chops ($21) which were chewy and oddly spiced (too much fennel seed?) and served with awful basil pesto mashed potatoes that could have been made with glue and an equally awful puree of some sort of bean. Despite expressing my feelings about the meal to management, the bill included all items and was almost $80. They did however comp us a mediocre tiramisu. I wish I liked the restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and could really use a tasty tapas place so I don't have to head to Casa Mono so often. My fingers are crossed that they will improve. As it is, I would suggest staying away.

Becky's Gravatar We went to Il Torchio and it was AMAZING. The tapas were delicious, especially the figs and the lamb chop with blueberry sauce. I had osso bucco which was delicious, just the right texture, and my partner had a perfectly cooked vegetarian pasta dish with fresh veggies and smoked mozarella. The service was good too. We'll definitely be back.
