Tree Pits Expansion In Progress

This is how the tree pits on Myrtle will all look once the tree pit expansion project is complete. The goal of this project is to improve the environment for all the street trees on Myrtle so they can grow with more vigor: a bigger tree pit allows more water, air, and nutrients to get to the roots.

Note: This phase of the project is not funding new tree guards, but the existing tree guards will not be removed as long as they're in good condition. Also, the Belgian blocks are only being placed in tree pits on Myrtle Avenue; so even though the pits on the side streets are being expanded, they will not get the nice stones.
