Myrtle Avenue Tree Pruning

Heads up! Myrtle Avenue is about to have it's trees pruned.

In late 2005, we noticed hazardous tree conditions along the Avenue, such as limbs breaking and branches obstructing pedestrian crosswalk signals. So we began reaching out to the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to request that trees be pruned.

In response to our efforts, the NYC Department of Forestry placed Myrtle Avenue on the Street Tree Pruning contract for 2007. Licensed contractors will prune all the trees on Myrtle Avenue from Flatbush to Classon Avenue.

In order to ensure that no damage occurs to cars below the trees being pruned, contractors will work when cars are not around. For this reason, the contractors will strive to prune during no parking hours. Nevertheless, on blocks where there are no parking restrictions, signs will be placed to announce no parking for 24 hours.

Work is expected to take place in March or April 2007.
