Oro Condos: Now For Sale

Just a hop and a skip off Myrtle on Flatbush and Gold, the Oro Condos are now for sale through Prudential Douglas Elliman.

The 40-story tower, at 306 Gold Street, should be complete in the beginning of 2008. The building will house over 300 apartments, a 50 foot lap pool, gym, and basketball/racquetball courts.

The ground floor will provide 2000 SF for retail, but apparently a tenant hasn't been chosen yet.

BA's Gravatar Is it just me, or does this sort of design just seem REALLY out of place in NYC? I mean I am all for modern design, but in some neighborhoods, it sticks out more like a sore thumb.

The Changeling's Gravatar I think it looks great, and it is, without a doubt, a major improvement for this area. Your first view of Brooklyn as you enter from the Manhattan Bridge is going to be a stunner.

RaTaSan's Gravatar You do have Metro Tech right across the street. It's a beautiful addition to Brooklyn's 'skyline'.

AB Fort Greene's Gravatar I agree that ORO and buildings like it are stylistically out of place there and other parts of Brooklyn... in my opinion, it's an architectural mess all the way down to Water Street--brick monstrosities, Mitchell-Lama, non-sequitur art strewn about, those faceless Watchtower offices--with very little charm. My guess is ORO is the "hope" for how buildings will look in the coming decades--maybe a great thing. It's not like that part of Brooklyn (let alone Tillary, Flatbush and the BQE) is that stunning... my issue is when these type of structures are wedged up against Brownstones and more defining (and charming) features of Brooklyn.
